The Five-book series details the life of 16 year old Beka through her Junior and Senior year; a very troubling time period for many young women to experience. During this time a teenage girl is just at the door step of woman- hood, and yet still a young girl.

Sarah’s amazing testimony of her own personal life’s transformation of becoming a teen witch to accepting the gift of salvation and becoming a Christian, is enthralling and inspirational; and has been featured on the 700 Club and the Tyra Banks Show.

Sarah’s greatest passion is her writing, and speaking to teens about her own traumatic experiences as a confused teenage girl. Sarah was raised in a home where her father believed in everything paranormal, Ouija boards, and books about witchcraft. She eagerly followed her father’s teachings, and in her eyes he became her hero. Until one day through her father’s drug addiction he pointed a gun to her head at the tender age of fourteen. During this confusing time, trying to desperately grasp her father’s drug addiction, she felt powerless and desperate to find strength; she turned to the occult for power, strength, and answers.
She began to practice witch craft in High school, became consumed in the New Age Philosophy, and celebrated and practiced Wiccan rituals.

During her senior year she entered a very dark place during her life’s journey, and began to accept the idea that death was her only option to have a new life, so she embraced the idea of suicide as her only option for the ultimate healing for her deep emotional pain. When Sarah finally attempted suicide, she did not succeed. Instead she found herself lying lifeless on the floor, alone, empty, and once again full of despair and hopelessness. At this point in her life she felt her only option was to go away to college.

While in college Sarah had two roommates that happened to be Baptist. The Baptist roommates were very odd to Sarah, and initially hard to relate to. She was not pleased with her living arrangements however, she observed them carefully. She watched and listened to how they behaved. She reluctantly accepted an invitation to Inter Varsity, a campus ministry. During the campus ministry Sarah heard a sermon that pricked her heart, soul, and spirit. The sermon made perfect sense to her and gave her all the answers she was desperately seeking for her life. For all of Sarah’s life she felt lost, but at that moment she found a part of her that had died long ago as a child. The journey to accepting her Heavenly Father into her heart and life was not a smooth transition, but Sarah knew that she had finally arrived at the truth, and key to true peace and happiness.

The theme for Sarah’s fiction whether she writes for the screen or books is “naked truth”. When we come before our Heavenly father we can come without any preconditions, façade, and strip ourselves of our mask and just “keep it real “with God. This is what He desires from us, He doesn’t want our fake selves he wants all of us, and He reaches down and loves all of us uniquely, because we are all different with various needs. Before God we have the liberty to be vulnerable, transparent, and completely authentic.

This is how Sarah found her healing and complete transformation, and is revealed in her writing and through speaking to teens. For many years she felt ashamed of her past and hid her story but actually began to find healing through writing and telling her personal and traumatic story.

You can purchase Sarah Anne Sumpolec’s books on Amazon, or any book retailer and also visit her website http://becomingministries.org/ .

A Ray of Hope in the Face of Adversity: The War on Cancer Part 2

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 178px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W8rUOF_xkT0/TcmuGdkTXbI/AAAAAAAAAa4/bW9nApU0SgY/s320/4114freedom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5605202637278633394" />

What would you do if a doctor gave you hope of being able to take a mass of cancer away through surgery; proceeded to conduct the surgery, and when you woke up from the surgery found the doctor hovering over your hospital bed, staring at you with a look of sorrow in his eyes, only to tell you, "I'm sorry I thought I could remove the mass but when I actually operated on your lung I could see that the type of tumor you have could not be surgically removed."

"What, really? You could not remove my mass doctor? But...you told me...aren't you a doctor? did you not take x-rays and scans? could you not see before hand that my mass could not be removed? Isn't that why you spent 15 years in school? Aren't you supposed to know these things? what do you mean you can't remove the cancer? This horrible thing on my lungs that is making me so sick, this thing that is threatening my life before my time!"

What would you do if a doctor who is treating you called you up. Called you on the phone, did not even have the decency or compassion to call you in for an appointment, and have a talk in his office, but called you on the phone and delivered the news and told you that you were going to die. "There is no use in you having chemo, or radiation, your cancer is incurable and you will surely die." And then proceeded the horrible news with "When can we schedule hospice to come to your house?" Hospice is basically saying that we want to make you as comfortable as we can before you die. Would you lose hope in light of all of this tragic news about your health, your being, your very existence?

I cannot speak for my beautiful aunt but I have to say, after hearing the news about the doctor's failed attempt of removing the mass from her lungs, I had a dim moment. Why did I have a dim moment? it is only because I put all of my faith in what a doctor said he could do.

But God. But God...this phrase echoed in my mind over and over again..But...God. Hope began to spring in my spirit once again "Yes!" I exclaimed, "but God! man does not hold life and death in his hands. A doctor does not have the right to tell you when you are going to die!" Another Bible verse echoed in my mind.."By his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 So this is it..This is the defining moment of my faith. This faith that compels me to go to church every week. This faith that I talk about and learn about. I can either choose to believe or I can accept death for my aunt. I chose to believe with every fiber in my body. I believed without a shadow of a doubt. Not even a fraction of a doubt filled my soul. And I was rejoicing to know that all of my family members who love and have supported my aunt felt the same way. We were truly on one accord, and we began to pray. Something amazing happened.

Within that week a childhood friend of my aunt, who is a famous doctor in the Washington D.C. area heard of what happened to my aunt. This Doctor happens to specialize in treating terminally ill cancer patients, and has had great success in seeing his patients cured of this monstrous disease.

He practices traditional medicine, but he has also devoted years of study to holistic medicine. He incorporates the traditional medicines along with the holistic approach to healing. He recommended juicing and drinking natural juices throughout the day, he promotes going on a juice fast, detoxing the body, a strict vegan diet, ( my aunt has been a strict vegetarian for over 25 years) sunshine, walking, laughing out loud , embracing a healthy life style, and mentally and spiritually accepting life not death!

He has a booklet of an entire holistic cancer fighting protocol. My aunt has followed the protocol and you can see a remarkable difference. She had a doctors visit this past week; the same doctor who told her that she was going to die. When he saw her walk into his office, his eyes stretched and he exclaimed, "This cannot be the same woman, what are you doing? you look amazing! tell me... what are you doing?"

But...God

We are still on the journey and battle but I must say that my aunt is on the winning side.

The War On Cancer-Part One

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-794Y_6PqnNE/TYzPEJRqF-I/AAAAAAAAAaY/YDw6TkkOKow/s320/iraq-war1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588068907776350178" />

The War On Cancer Part 1

I was unexpectedly struck by lung cancer. The cancer did not strike my body, but my dear aunt's lungs. My aunt is like a second mother to me. She is one of the most beautiful people on this earth. She is truly an angel, her skin is smooth and cocoa brown, and she's sweet, short and round. She glows because of the joy that permeates from her soul and spirit. She lights up a dull room just by her presence. Her beautiful deep dimples emerge on her cheeks every time she smiles. She's a vegetarian, never smoked or drank a day in her life.

When I heard the news of her cancer, it was as if someone gave me a swift punch to my stomach. I was knocked off my feet, I could barely breathe. I began weeping and asking How? Why? "She did everything right! WHY.. Why..How and why? I began to question my mortality my mothers, my sons. "Are my days numbered?" I went through an array of emotions. Then I had an inspirational moment, I do believe in a higher power than myself, I go to church I have heard the inspirational testimonies of when cancer survivors tell their stories of how they were healed. I believe in the power of medical intervention, radiation , and chemo. So I began to hope, and have faith once again.

But my world has been changed for ever, because I too have been struck by this nasty, unfair disease called cancer. Its an ugly beast that devours the innocent, the good, young, old it does not care who it strikes it just attacks whoever and seeks to kill whenever.

For the first time in my writing career I have ceased writing. I just cannot at this time. Before this I was able to compose a book per year but this will not be the case in 2011. So I ask that you join me as I write a series on the "War on Cancer" take the journey with my aunt and I as we cloak ourselves with faith, and proceed on our fierce battle with lung cancer.

A Holiday Gift: Deitrick & Damita Haddon

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 235px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/TPucHd4bhTI/AAAAAAAAAZM/yTXLx8BfJsI/s320/deitrickanddamita.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5547199018131227954" />
Holiday Season typically represents festivities, family, and an abundance of wonderful foods, sweet treats, and gifts. However, to many people the Holiday Season is a time that is laden with sorrow and heartache. Many suffer from the loss of a loved one, a torn and dysfunctional family unit, battles with depression, unemployment, physical disease, or just the loss of hope and faith in one’s life. When one loses sight of their purpose on this earth, and loses hope and faith, this is the beginning of an emotional death.

Our lives here on this earth are a part of a much larger purpose. We each have a unique and divine purpose here on this earth. We have been blessed with gifts that are meant to be shared with others. What is your gift? Your gift is something that comes easily to you and hard for others, and something that you enjoy immensely. Some people have the gift of listening, kindness, hospitality, cooking, sewing, music, writing, cleaning, organizing, or taking the time to discover your divine purpose.

Finding your divine purpose is a process and requires you to make a lifestyle change. This lifestyle change may require you to let go of some of the negative people within your life who refuse to encourage you, or believe in your dreams. This Holiday Season my gift to you is simply reminding you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You were created for a purpose and a divine plan. This new year may I encourage you to take the time to discover who your creator is, and find your unique gift that your heavenly Father has so graciously given to you. Take the time and enjoy the You Tube clips below, songs that are sung by the dynamic husband and wife team Deitrick & Damita Haddon, reminding us all that our life’s journey is a part of a broader design.

Peace and Blessings
Until next Year,
Camille Kleidysz

Cafe Chat with Stellar Award Nominee Marjane'

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/SpwkzJCE-zI/AAAAAAAAATg/eALcG2xX01s/s400/Marjane+photo.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376212516190092082" />

Marjane'
2009- London's Mp3 Music Award Nominee
2009- Gospel Music Workshop of America-Gospel Artist Showcase
2008-2009 Stellar Award Nominee for Best New Artist of the Year
2008 featured artist for Karen Clark Sheard, 2008 Grammy Foundation 10th Annual Project
2008 Lilly Mack Series, 2008 JFJ Live Radio Featured Artist, Gospel Avenue 2007, Living Truth Broadcast 2007
West Coast Praze 2007 Featured Artist
2007 African Market Place Featured Artist
2007 Semi Finalist BET'S SUNDAY BEST
2007 BB KINGS featured Artist
2006 Urban Idol Finalist at the Black Business Expo, Gospel Play "Is that Man Your Husband"
Supporting Lead Actress & Singer 2006, Background Vocals for Gospel Artist Rochelle Lowe 2006
Oratorical Celebration for Dr Martin Luther King 2006
Background Vocals for Gospel Artist Keyo 2005, Celebrate Life Cancer Ministries 2005, Faith Sanctuary Church 2005
Steve Harvey Talent Search (El Rey Theatre) 2nd place Winner 2004, Winner of Sounds for Soul Gospel Talent Search 2004
Winner of Talent Search Club 110 2004, Christian Talent Search (CATS) Charlotte North Carolina Runner-up 2004-2005 season
Women Arise Ministries 2004, Heritage Christian Center Choir Album Praise Him All Ye People 2003, and Toast and Roast for Star Trek actress Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) 2003

www.marjanemusic.com

Camille Kleidysz: Welcome to Nazareth Heights Café! I had the opportunity to listen to some of your latest Cd, and I have to say that I was completely blown away and moved. You have had some amazing things happen to you lately. Stellar Award nominee for best new artist of the year, your music is taking off here in the States as well as internationally in London. There is truly something special about your voice and songs. What inspired you to come up with the title of your album?

Marjane’: The title of the album was inspired through my personal relationship with God. When I think of all the things he has done for me it brings joy to my heart. I know I will never let go of him.

</spanCamille: Do you have any advice for singers who are trying to break into the business?

Marjane’: My advice for other singers would be to follow the leading of the Lord in all you do. Allow God to take the driver seat in your ministry. Stay focused and in communion with the Lord. There you will find everything you need. Through that special time with God the spirit of God takes reign in you and the Holy Spirit will be present in everything.

Camille: What do you like to do when you’re not singing?

Marjane’: When I am not singing I love to go to the movies and dinner.

Camille: In your opinion what makes a great song?

Marjane': The anointing is what makes a great song. Anyone can sing but it's the power of God behind it that can change someone’s life.

Camille: What was going through your mind when you first found out that you were nominated for the Stellar Awards as best new artist of the year?

Marjane': I was so excited to make the ballot for the Stellar Award. All I could do was thank God.

Camille: What was it like to be one of BET’s Sunday Best semi finalists? And how did you balance your ministry while participating in a competition?

Marjane': My experience at BET's Sunday Best was awesome !!!! It was great for exposure. I currently do not participate in competitions anymore because personally it does not make sense. How can the anointing of God compete against itself? We all have been gifted by God and it's up to us to let him make that platform.

Camille: Tell us your latest news?

Marjane’: <span style="font-style:My latest news: I am a Nominee for a 2009 London MP3 Music Award.I have also had the chance this month to do the artist showcase for the Gospel music Workshop of America in Cincinnati!

I would like to thank Marjane’ for sharing with us today, and congratulate her on her recent nomination for the London MP3 Awards! How did you start your writing journey?

Camille Kleidysz: I was born and raised in California. I moved to New York City to attend college, and that is where my writing journey began. New York City is truly my muse. The different layers and textures of the city are truly inspiring.

Ella: Who are your two main characters and what do you like most about them?

Camille: My two main characters in the Nazareth Heights series are Lacey Santiago and Adrianna Williamson. They are two best friends who named themselves the L.A. sisters in the third grade. At an early age they both loss their fathers. Lacey Santiago’s father was murdered in the Bronx when she was a young girl and Adrianna Williamson’s father was a drug addict and abandoned her when she was only eighteen months old. Through their tragic circumstances at a very young age they discovered a strong bound when they where just little girls and they became like sisters. Their loyalty to each other is beyond impressive. And beyond their friendship they are both very flawed characters, even though they are Christians, they are really confused about so many issues in their life. They are having a hard time grasping their true identity.

Ella: Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from your book?

Camille: The main message that I am trying to convey to my reading audience is that it is not where you live, but it is how you live. The four teenagers in my book are from a very impoverished area in the inner city called Nazareth Heights. Statistics basically had already written their life’s story and it always begins like this, “inner city kids are more likely to”…. and unfortunately the word “succeed” does not follow. What follows is usually something very negative. The Faithful Four decided to take control of their destiny and set a goal for themselves to overcome their negative environment. I also would like my readers to know that there are times when you will have no one to encourage you, and that is the time when you have to encourage yourself.

Ella: What advice would you give a new writer? Would you change anything about your journey?

Camille:The advice I would give to new writers is to really have a strong creative identity. Find your unique voice. Do not look to the left or the right when you are creating. Everything that you compose should be authentic and come from your heart and soul, do not become concerned about what other authors are writing, or what is going to be popular and sell. God gave you unique stories to write. Do not be ashamed to share them.

I would not change anything about my literary journey, and it is truly a journey and a process. I have enjoyed the process because I have learned so much.

Ella: Share with us your latest news, events or upcoming book releases.

Camille: I am set to release the second installment of my inspirational novella series entitled Spiritual Eyes. I have received a great response from people that have read the novella. I’ve always wanted to write a novella, and the people that have read it loved the fact that the book is fairly short. They also fell in love with the main characters of the story Kai and Roman, and requested that I continue their relationship. So “Spiritual Eyes” is actually going to become my first Christian Fiction romance series.

I have also created an Inspirational Devotional Blog: called Guiding Light Devotionals. I love devotional books and sometimes when you're at work you cannot always crack open a book and read while your working, so I wanted to create a place where people could just click on their computer and read a quick devotional thought for the day.

Princess Of The Kingdom

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 209px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/TH52KFnS_NI/AAAAAAAAAXg/7JA9u3CshR4/s320/Princess+of+the+Kingdombook+cover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511972909625834706" />

Statistics reveal that self-confidence and a positive body image begins to wane in preadolescent girls; unlike their male counterparts whose self-confidence begins to peek and flourish during preadolescence. Throughout the fragile adolescence stage, a girl’s identity begins to deteriorate, and her self-worth revolves around her peers, appearance, and fleeting material items. A low self- esteem can become a devastating distraction to a young woman’s life, and can result in poor performance in the class room and lack of confidence that will eventually affect her social interactions. A teenage girl who possesses a distorted self- worth, can become vulnerable to negative peer pressure, substance abuse, suicide, and sexual promiscuity.

Princess Of The Kingdom is a book designed to inspire young women to become smart, poised, and confident; encouraging young ladies to place their value and identity in their Creator, character building, academic career, individual gifts, and strengths. And fortifying young women to advocate for themselves by using their voices, body language, prayer, scriptures, and resources to promote change and positive results.

Topics will include self-esteem building, self-presentation, communication, etiquette essentials, and how to become confident in the market place by turning their passions into profit. Young women will gain knowledge of one of the most valuable and helpful life lessons while embarking on their life’s journey; God has a purpose and plan for his daughter’s lives and they are indeed a princess of His kingdom.

Princess of the Kingdom: Coming Soon!

Nazareth Heights Book 2 Now Available On Amazon: A Note From The Author

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 302px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/S_wuobfUpSI/AAAAAAAAAWo/iG-zPkE_KLc/s400/FotoFlexer_Photo..jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5475302519084459298" />

AUTHOR'S NOTE

I am extremely excited to introduce my summer release Nazareth Heights Book 2, now available on amazon, and available for purchase during the 2010 General Conference session located in downtown Atlanta,Georgia.

If you have read Nazareth Heights Book 1, you are familiar with the Nazareth Heights community and have been introduced to the main characters of the Nazareth Heights series. If you are new to the Nazareth Heights series, I strongly recommend that you read the first installment of Nazareth Heights, and become acquainted with the back story and origin of the Faithful Four’s unique journey.

Composing Nazareth Heights Book 2 has become a different and an amazing experience. I’ve had mixed emotions while writing Nazareth Heights Book 2. The characters have matured, and like a mother who longs to protect her children from pain and danger, I found myself becoming extremely protective of the Faithful Four.

I have made an assertive effort to shield the dynamic group of teenagers from the dangers within the Nazareth Heights community. However, within the inner city youth are often faced with many obstacles and dangerous challenges. There are concrete decisions that one must make for safety and survival.

In this narrative, the Faithful Four have matured, and I have allowed the main characters to blossom and face adversity. The Faithful Four had to endure painful and perplexing trials in Book 2. Throughout their complex life's journey; the Faithful Four remain determined to honor their childhood vow.

It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy reading this story as much as I loved composing Nazareth Heights Book 2. May God continue to bless and keep you.

Camille Kleidysz

Countdown To The Summer Release Of Nazareth Heights Book 2: AN INSPIRATIONAL SAGA ABOUT UPLIFTING AND EMPOWERING OUR GIRLS

Will Adrianna Williamson maintain her childhood vow amid heartbreak, bitter rivalries, betrayal, and an unexpected love?

After a long summer of separation the Faithful Four finally reunite at their “Dare to be a Daniel” ceremony. Dawson. The great emphasis in music while studying at Tuskegee was classical but Ellison’s heart and soul longed to play jazz music. Later Ellison credited his success as an author to his love for jazz and its emphasis on improvisation.

In June 1936 Ellison traveled to New York City to earn money for his education at Tuskegee and stayed after he developed a friendship with the author Richard Wright. Richard Wright became his mentor and led Ellison on the path to becoming an author. While living in New York Ellison also made the acquaintance of poet Langston Hughes. Over a period of seven years Ellison composed the great American novel Invisible Man, and was recognized upon its publication in 1952 as one of the most important works of fiction of its time. It was on the best seller list for sixteen weeks. Its reputation and popularity has continued to grow for four decades since its publication.

Invisible Man has become a part of the canon of American Literature, and is required reading for most college students across the nation. The Invisible Man’s complex themes reflect the contradictions of American life through the paradigm of the African American experience. Invisible Man is a novel that has stood the test of time and is still very relevant to the African American experience as it relates to defining what it means to be Black in America.

Nazareth Heights Café celebrates the Life and Works of Harlem Renaissance Poet Claude Mckay "If We Must Die": Celebrating Black History Month

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 287px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/S3k7vN86Q-I/AAAAAAAAAWI/I1we6va78Ro/s400/mckay_allen.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438443707411612642" />

Claude McKay was a gifted and shining literary star of the Harlem Renaissance Era. Claude McKay’s poetry possessed a more militant tone that gave his poetry a distinct style. McKay’s most famous poem “If We Must Die” An eloquent sonnet inspired by the violent race riots that erupted in the inner cities in 1919. McKay’s poetry cries out the social injustices and outrage of the early Black American experience.

Claude McKay was born in the Clarendon Hills of Jamaica, and began writing poetry in his childhood. McKay traveled abroad and lived in France, Great Brittan, and North Africa. His literary works reflected the broad experience of the Black diaspora. Claude McKay died in Chicago in 1948. Bebe Campbell was an amazing storyteller, and mastered the art of arresting her reader's attention from the very first sentence. Her character description was authentic, enthralling, and chilling as she captured the joys and ugly truths of the deep South's horrid secrets. She was my literary hero. The literary world suffered a great loss and she will truly be missed. Nazareth Heights Cafe celebrates the life and works of Bebe Moore Campbell.

"Bebe Moore Campbell (February 18, 1950 – November 27, 2006), was the author of three New York Times bestsellers, Brothers and Sisters, Singing in the Comeback Choir, and What You Owe Me, which was also a Los Angeles Times "Best Book of 2001". Her other works include the novel Your Blues Ain't Like Mine, which was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and the winner of the NAACP Image Award for Literature; her memoir, Sweet Summer, Growing Up With and Without My Dad; and her first nonfiction book, Successful Women, Angry Men: Backlash in the Two-Career Marriage. Her essays, articles, and excerpts appear in many anthologies.

Bebe Campbell's interest in mental health was the catalyst for her first children's book, Sometimes My Mommy Gets Angry, which was published in September 2003. This book won the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Outstanding Literature Award for 2003. The book tells the story of how a little girl copes with being reared by her mentally ill mother. Bebe Campbell was a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and a founding member of NAMI-Inglewood. Her latest book, 72 Hour Hold, also deals with mental illness. Her first play, "Even with the Madness", debuted in New York in June 2003. This work revisited the theme of mental illness and the family.

As a journalist, Campbell wrote articles for The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Essence, Ebony, Black Enterprise, as well as other publications. She was a regular commentator for Morning Edition a program on National Public Radio."

PERSONAL LIFE

"Born as Elizabeth Bebe Moore and reared in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

She lived in Los Angeles, California with her husband, Ellis Gordon Jr.; they had two children, a son, Ellis Gordon III, and a daughter, actress Maia Campbell, who is best known for her role as "Tiffany" on In the House.

Bebe Moore Campbell died from brain cancer, aged 56, on November 27, 2006. Interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery Inglewood, California."

Her favorite quote on being a writer was "Discipline is the servant of inspiration".

Exclusive Sneak Peak:Nazareth Heights Book2:"Summer In The Heights" Part 1 and 2

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 174px; height: 264px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/SwCBw-aIIgI/AAAAAAAAAUw/Ky6J2ehBc9Q/s320/BookCoverPreview2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404462231230882306" />

Dark, angry clouds slowly swallowed the tottering plane. The airplane began to rock, and dip against the turbulent winds. Heavy rain drops violently slammed against the windows. Adrianna’s moist cold hand quivered, and slowly slid down gripping the sides of her seat. Her eyes clasped tight, and her mouth became dry and stuck together.

She attempted to pray, but was unable to articulate a coherent prayer. Adrianna noticed the flight attendants quickly fastening their seat belts, and nervously darting their eyes.Adrianna clinched her fist and desperately searched for words to pray. She could only whisper. “Jesus…Jesus.” The searing emotions of fear and uncertainty gripped Adrianna Williamson’s mind and soul. Her thoughts immediately flooded with the terror of never reuniting with her father.

She often heard stories from her grandmother of how her father once held and sang to her as an infant. However, her memory was vacant of his touch, his expressions, and his voice. Adrianna immediately felt anger and resentment. What kind of man are you? How could you go this long without seeing me? I’ll be sixteen soon! And…I’m a good student…I even got accepted into Langford!

The plane immediately dropped in the air, jolting Adrianna in her seat. She was beyond frightened. Adrianna’s anger toward her father suddenly transformed into an undying and unconditional love for a man that she longed to meet.

The turbulent landing into Hartsfield-Jackson Airport set the tenor for Adrianna’s first summer in Atlanta. It was the summer of complete change. The summer Adrianna had hoped to meet her estranged father. The man who abandoned her when she was eighteen months; the man she yearned to meet throughout her entire life. The man whom she still failed to meet despite her summer vacation with her father’s parents on Cascade Road.

Once again, Samuel Williamson shattered his daughter’s heart and hopes when he failed to show up at his parent’s home to reunite with the baby he left so long ago.
Cascade Road was in complete contrast to the chaotic street life of Nazareth Heights. Her grandparents’ neighborhood was serene and pleasant. Sprawling oak trees hung over the sidewalks and front porches, shading the residents from the relentless Atlanta sun.

Bundles of colorful flowers spilled over large clay pots, and sat in the front of each porch. The elderly residents of the neighborhood would spend their lazy, hazy afternoons sitting on their porches; talking and laughing, while observing the passing cars and pedestrians.

The neighbors were always polite and took the time to make eye contact; always saying hello, while giving wide toothy grins. The families that knew the Williamson family never failed to stop Adrianna and shout, “Adrianna is that you girl? I remember you when you were just a little bitty thing. Girl… if you don’t look just like your daddy! he must of spit you right out. Your mama didn’t have nothin to do with that!”

Adrianna thought it was comforting to be surrounded by people who knew her father; but during the course of the summer the comments about her appearance, became irritating and annoying, like a virus that would not go away. Adrianna learned to smile politely, but her thoughts contradicted the pleasant expression on her face: Don’t they have anything better to say? Don’t they realize that I’ve never even met the man? What about asking me about my grades? or where I‘m from? I’m a straight A student! I’m more than my so called father!

Upon Adrianna’s arrival in Atlanta she never failed to e-mail Lacey and Bree, eagerly detailing every aspect of her trip. After contacting her Faithful Four Sisters, Adrianna could not wait to send an email to Terrance Francis. Terrance failed to return any of her emails. To avoid feeling hurt by Terrance’s rejection she would tell herself that all of her e-mails were delivered to his spam file.

Throughout the month of August, Bree and Lacey stopped receiving emails from Adrianna. Adrianna Williamson had become completely silent. And no one knew why.

Copyright © December (2009) Camille Kleidysz

NAZARETH HEIGHTS BOOK 2 SUMMER IN THE HEIGHTS PART 2

Summer in the Heights was like an old familiar song, evoking sweet pleasant memories. And was comforting; like a grandmother’s famous dish on an easy Sunday afternoon, regardless if the dish was tasty or lacked spice. For the good or for the bad, Nazareth Heights was the thriving heart beat of the city, and its wild energy entangled itself within the souls and spirits of its residents and became all that they knew to be good.

Crowds piled into the streets, steps, and stoops seeking relief from their stifling hot apartments. Sweaty, cackling children continued to burst open fire hydrants, desperately seeking relief from the steamy concrete jungle.

Corner bodegas served as the community daycare centers for the neighborhood children whose parents were unable to afford summer activities. But were able to give their children two dollars for dime candy, and twenty-five cent bags of potato chips and cheap cans of soda.

The kids from the neighborhood would often congregate by Mr. Santos’ bodega to socialize, and play cards. Mr. Santos would often rush out of the store in between customers to discipline or offer sound counsel to the children in the neighborhood. Little girl’s intricate braided and twisted hairstyles would become unraveled from the fierce movements of running, jumping, skipping, and playing endless rounds of Double Dutch.

Throughout the steamy summer months barbecue pits seemed to be present on every other corner. Savory smoke would ascend in the air like coiling snakes inviting the residents to partake.

Sal’s Pizzeria seemed to be standing room only throughout the summer. Those who were unable to endure the packed crowds in Sal's would grab a dollar slice, fold it in half and walk through the neighborhood with greasy lips, and strings of cheese hanging from their mouths, enticing others to make their way towards the neighborhood pizzeria.

Mr. Ortiz, the ice cream man from Santa Domingo would usually make his money for the year from his special recipe he brought from the Dominican Republic. Throngs of people would come from all over Manhattan to purchase Mr. Ortiz’s famous Mango ice cream. Mr. Ortiz and Miss Lilly’s Soul Food Café put Nazareth Heights on the map as a notable tourist site.

The summer in the Heights remained predictable and infallible. The Faithful Four successfully survived their first summer without the missing link to their childhood covenant. Their thoughts never failed to stray down South, often wondering if Adrianna would return to fulfill her vow.

NAZARETH HEIGHTS BOOK 2 COMING SOON!

Copyright © December (2009) Camille Kleidysz

Cafe Chat with Author Danielle Byrd

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 354px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/SsS6Zc8V9QI/AAAAAAAAAUY/JwiZFpAt2Gk/s400/New+ImageDanielle+Byrd+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387636000670741762" />

"Danielle is a motivated, untamed, unashamed, unapologetic woman of GOD! What inspired you to write "What Makes You Think...?"

Danielle Byrd: I know without a doubt that what prompted me to create "What Makes You Think...?" was my life, loves, and the many mistakes along the way. Somehow I had to make something good out of what I thought had always been a "messed up" life!

Camille: Give us a brief synopsis of your book?

Danielle Byrd: The documented memories of an individual’s life of abuse, dysfunction, road to healing, and ultimate reconciliation with God, and man.

Camille: What message are you trying to convey to your reading audience?

Danielle Byrd: My message is this: He will supply. His provisions are sufficient. You are not alone. There are others out there who have been where you've been and are standing where you currently stand. And they're still standing! This book is a perfect blend of life's reality and heaven's grace.

Camille: When and why did you begin writing?

Danielle Byrd: I began writing poetry at the age of 5-6 years old. Does that count? I first became published in 1991. I've written for newspapers, newsletters, and currently a publication called "The KopOut". I began writing simply because it was easy and fun. I was allowed to write what I believed and not have to candy-coat anything.

Camille: Are experiences in your book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Danielle Byrd: Oh yes! Everything in this book is based on my life, and the lives of some of my loved ones and those who claimed to have loved me as well. Some of it is graphic. Some content is humorous. You really do need a sense of humor to grasp this books concept. If you have a critical spirit, an unteachable spirit, then don't bother reading it. Save your money lol!!

Camille: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book?

Danielle Byrd: I'm going to be honest here. I don't know how else to be. But the most surprising things I learned while creating this work was the lack of support from those closest to me. Yeah, really! Very seldom did anyone close to me ask "Hey how's the book going?" or "I can't wait to read it!" It was strangers who heard of me that were constantly inquiring and encouraging. In their defense, I think it was that they just didn't really believe that I could do it. But when I prayed about it, the Lord told me..."It's not their faith in you, that you rely on, or where your self-worth is found. It's your faith in Me!"

Camille: Thank you for sharing with us today, tell us where we can purchase "What Makes You Think...?"

Danielle Byrd: Contact me through my shoutlife site. Pre-sales are going on right now at 30% off! shoutlife.com/luv2write

Camille: Complete this sentence I am blessed because…

Danielle Byrd: I'm stronger, I'm wiser, I'm better...much better because of where I've been and where I'm going!

Camille: I want to thank author Danielle Byrd for sharing with us today. I truly enjoyed this interview! Her candor and authenticity in my opinion are two prerequisites for a great read. The author has earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration; he has been a professor, a businessman, an author, past officer of several business and community boards, a volunteer and friend to many. Regardless of the worldly titles given, John prefers to be called a man.

Any accolades the author has received he attributes to the teachings and solid foundation provided by a loving grandfather. This great man assertively implanted the concept that knowledge is power, which developed into the understanding that education is the single most important ingredient necessary to neutralize those forces that breed poverty and despair. This philosophy planted the seeds that cultivated a life, which is “Just a Season.”

Camille Kleidysz: Welcome to Nazareth Heights Cafe'! I have read some of the reviews for “Just a Season” and the reviews have been stellar. Without giving away too much of your story, give us a brief synopsis of “Just a Season”.

John Wills: It’s been said that there are no words that have not been spoken and there are no stories that have not been told, but there are some that you will never forget. “Just a Season” is one such story. It is a luminous story into the life of a man who, in the midst of pain and loss, journeys back in time to reexamine all the important people, circumstances, and intellectual fervor that contributed to the richness of his life.

This fictional narrative begins with a grief-stricken father visiting the grave site of his beloved son who was killed in a tragic accident; a moment that he and no other loving parent should ever have to face. As he sadly gazes at his son's headstone and reads what is inscribed there, the dates 1981 – 2001, bring about an illuminating discovery. The tiny dash that separates the years of one's birth and death represents the whole of a person's life. So if this tiny dash were to tell story concealed within his “dash”, what would it say? What emerges from the pages of this book is a legacy of true benevolence and grace.

Camille: Describe the main characters of “Just a Season” and which one of the characters are your favorite and why?

John Wills: The main character, John Wells, was born at a time when hope was merely a mirage. Born into a family to a young mother in a rural segregated small town were living was a difficult challenge. He was abandoned by his father and raised by a paternal Grandfather whose family had nothing to give him but love. “Granddaddy”, his mentor, instilled great values and taught him extraordinary life lessons to be carried on for generations. John’s life, one from a different perspective, is an incredible journey of hope, adversity and destiny.

This great man, Granddaddy, assertively implanted the concept that knowledge is power and that education is the single most important ingredient necessary to neutralize those forces that breed poverty and despair. This philosophy planted the seeds that cultivated a life, which is "Just a Season".
John is a fictional character used as the story line to share lessons in concert with events of historical significances from an African American perspective. The reader will travel through time reliving a life through the eyes of the character as he experiences a life, a journey that is common to all of us. “Just a Season” has something for everyone - inspiration, love, joy, laughter, sadness, pain, and redemption. More importantly, the story will allow you reflect upon African American history and question the significance of your dash.

My favorite character is in the story is Granddaddy who was strong, full of wisdom, profound in thought, and because he had the vision to develop his grandson to be all he could be. I particularly admire Granddaddy for instilling this thought – “I raised you to be a man and as a man you don’t know what you may have to do but when the time comes, do it.”

Camille: What is the universal theme of your story? And is there a message in your novel that you want your reading audience to grasp?

John Wills: The tiny dash that will be placed on everyone’s final marker separating the years of one's birth and death represents the whole life of a person’s. The main character share with the reader his life’s story and all of the things witnessed over the course of his journey, which is the divine phenomenon known as life. It is my hope that anyone reading Just a Season will reexamine the contents of their dash and become committed to increasing the equity within it.

Life is precious regardless of your circumstance – you can overcome life’s adversity and/or challenges. You only fail if you quit. All of us endure mountains, milestones, and valleys as well as a multitude of events that will occur over a lifetime. Never give up. We only have a minute, did not choose it, can’t refuse it, it’s up to you to use it, it’s just a tiny little minute but an eternity in it. Live your life to the fullest for we have only been given “Just a Season”.

Camille: How did you come up with the title for your book(s)?

John Wills: The title “Just a Season” comes from the religious knowledge or understanding of life, meaning we have only been given just a season.

Camille: What books have most influenced your life?

John Wills: I love history and like to think of myself as a student of history. Therefore, the books that influenced me the most, aside from the Bible, were “Roots” and “A People’s History of the United States”.

Camille: Who are your favorite authors and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

John Wills: I don’t think anyone in particular influenced me as a writer. However, if I had to choose a favorite author it would have to be Mr. Alex Haley because my favorite book is “Roots”. I was profoundly moved by Mr. Haley’s powerful representation of the most realistic portrayal of the worst chapter in our people’s history. He allows us to see and feel what it was like to experience the worst crime the world has ever known from capture through successive generations of slavery. I have also been a fan of most of his work to include the Autobiography of Malcolm X. The way he tell a story, places you in the story making you feel as if you are living it. More importantly, his writing style allows you to feel the lives of the characters as you witness their struggles, understand their fortitude and admiring their courage as they endured their remarkable lives.

Camile: Do you have a specific writing style?

John Wills: Not particularly. I think I am a colorful writer and try to paint a visual picture with my words allowing the reader to be intimately involved becoming part of the story. I feel more comfortable with historical narratives or historical fiction, which I call “fact-tion”. I tend to, at least in my mind, feel comfortable with those genres because it allows me to add my personal interpretation to the topic.

Camille: When and why did you begin writing?

John Wills: My life’s work have always involved writing be it proposals for work, my college career both as a student and teacher to include the necessary writing requirements needed for my business endeavors. I did not have an interest in publishing anything mainly because I did not have the time due to work, family, and all of the things that involved living, which consumes our lives. So, I probably considered myself a writer all of my life but it wasn’t until the conception of “Just a Season” that I decided to become a published author.

The novel “Just a Season” was born out of a dreadful horror and from it I am seeking to achieve a far-reaching noble purpose associated with the books success. About six years ago I lost my only son due to a tragic automobile accident. It was without question the worst thing imaginable for my wife and I, and most certainly my darkest hour. Adding to the terrible sadness of this situation was that my son’s death occurred on his son’s first birthday. Elijah, my grandson is now seven years old.
From this nightmare, I have come to understand that adversity can either destroy or develop you. Unless and until you suffer enough pain, then and only then, will you reach deep inside and feel the breath that God has breathed into your soul coming eye to eye with your destiny. Now having said that, my salvation was to take this lemon and make lemonade. I wrote Just a Season due to circumstance as a way to heal from the adversity I faced. In addition, I believed Just a Season was a story that had to be told.

The primary purpose of the book is to use it as a vehicle that would generate enough monies to set up a college education trust for my grandson. It is my hope that this effort will ensure a brighter future for him. Therefore, I will say humbly, Just a Season was written by someone greater than myself and I was merely a vehicle to deliver this great story to the world.

Camille: Complete this sentence I am blessed because….

John Wills: I woke up today in my right mind with the ability and wisdom to be of service to others…

Camille: Thank you for sharing with us today, tell us where we can purchase “Just a Season”?

John Wills: Just a Season can be purchased through my webpage: www.justaseason.com, Amazon.com, BOOKSURGE.COM, ALIBRIS.COM, TARGET.COM, Pages in Black, Barnes & Noble.com, Books a Million and most online book venues. Stubbs shares her experience of gossip, and how it affected her life. This compelling and thought provoking book encourages its readers to become aware of the power of words. Words can be used to encourage and uplift or they can be used to shred a person's character apart. Her openness in "Stop The Gossiping" has opened a pathway of healing that has been long overdue and has given her the victory over her inner silence.

Camille Kleidysz: Mia, welcome to Nazareth Heights Café’. Congratulations on your new book. What inspired you to write “Stop the Gossiping”?

Mia Stubbs: Thank you! My past personal experience with the effects of gossip, and knowing how the enemy has attempted to use gossip as a force to destroy churches, the workplace, youth in schools, marriages and our communities. I felt that people respond in a positive manner when they are enlightened about issues they do not know about, and issues they take effort to know and care about.

Camille: When and why did you begin writing?

Mia: I began writing articles on gossip and its effects in 2007, which then lead to writing, “Stop the Gossiping”. Writing for me has been my outlet of expression of my inner feelings. There were times when I did not want to burden others about what I was feeling, so I would write my expressions and thoughts, in my writings about what I had observed in the lives of people who were suffering silently and not being heard.

Camille: As a child, what did you want to become when you grew up?

Mia: As a child growing up, I always wanted to be in business for myself. I always felt that being my own boss would allow me to make a change and opportunities for others. I must say, as a child, I never entertained the thought of being a writer or author. But I am thankful to God for the opportunity and insight that He has given to me, through being victorious over my circumstances, and also providing healing and encouragement for many that are faced with the effects of gossip.

Camille: Presently in middle school and high school, gossip has certainly evolved. It has now gone to cyberspace, and the words and accusations have become harsher because the perpetrators of the gossip are able to conceal their identity on the Internet. The effects of gossip are devastating. In some instances the news has reported several high school students across the country who have actually committed suicide because of the venomous words hurled at them. What is your advice to a young girl or young man who is in great pain because they are undergoing… what I call a “gossip assault” in middle school or high school?

Mia:There have been large amounts of youth who have been the target of gossip through peer pressure, and bullying. As a result, their characters have been severely misrepresented. These horrendous effects have left a devastating end result on their lives and the lives of their families. This saddens God, for His love is so great for His youth. God especially wants His youth to be victorious over the enemy and their minds to become sharp. His Word says to be “Wise as a serpent, and harmless as a dove” God wants His youth to be winners in Him.

Prayer is the strongest gift that adults can give to youth.I would like to share, if there is ever a time, you should know this in your spirit, it is now! If and when one becomes a subtractor and not an adder to your spirit, you must immediately remove them from the front seat of your life, to the backseat or completely out of your car. Keep those in the front seat of your life who are builders of your spirit, and show love in your life, and love and fear the Lord. If there is anyone that tells you can’t, know that “you can” a step further, You WILL! You will have victory in Jesus! Stay focused! Listen to the wisdom of those that care about you, stay closely connected to God, for He is your Deliverer and Protector and the only One that provides His favor in your life, and uses your enemies to be your stepping stones. “No weapon formed against your life shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up against you, shall be condemned, all these in Jesus Name!”

Camille: How long did it take you to write “Stop The Gossiping”?

Mia: Through my research of what the Bible states concerning gossip, writing several articles previously, and my personal journals, then concluding the writing process of “Stop the Gossiping” took approximately a month and a half.

Camille: Do you believe that some gossip can be positive?

Mia: In Exodus 23:1 “You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous wicked”
Psalms 41:6 “And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.”

Webster definition of gossip is: a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others: rumor or report of an intimate nature: chatty talk

The best indicator to decide between negative or positive gossip is to ask yourself three questions to determine if you are a participant of gossip whether positive or negative:

1. If God was standing right next to me, would He approve of this conversation?

2. Is the person I am discussing, present, to defend themselves?

3. If the tables were turned, would I like this to be said about me or one of my loved ones?

If the answers to the above questions were “yes,” then there has not been an attempt to destroy a person’s character.

Outside of asking if God would approve of the conversation; is this conversation something that you need to ask a person that you care about? And should it be asked in private? In no way should anyone be placed in a position to be embarrassed and made to feel that their private details true or false are the root of conversation, for entertainment and amusement for the group for that day, or any other day.

Camille: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Mia: I can proudly share that God is my Mentor, I also enjoy reading the writings of Ellen G. White

Camille: What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Mia: I love spending quality time with my son, vacationing together, outside of God, he is truly my best friend. He has gained increased knowledge through the sharing of my failures as well as my victories. I have also learned so much through his positive spirit and outlook on life.

Camille: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Mia: There is a lot I would love to share! I had someone ask me are our words powerful? I responded by saying, In God's word it states that there is life or death in the power of the tongue, but it is our Father that puts power behind the words! Just as He watches over His children, He also watches over words that are spoken against us! He has given us a wonderful text for our mental comfort, a cushioned pillow text to sleep on "No Weapon Formed Against Us Shall Prosper Every Tongue That Rise Against Us, We Shall Condemn"!

The true purpose of “No weapon formed shall prosper” is to protect the mind of the person being targeted by the enemy, whether it is the enemy gossiping, manipulating, using false insinuations to the mind, or the enemy using an individual while in casual conversation to tear down the spirit of another. The enemy loves to try to bully God’s beautiful children, and the main way is through gossip of the mind.

From the beginning of time, the enemy has tried to use gossip of the mind, manipulation and insinuations of the mind to remove God’s children off the path designed by God. This fact is evident when he cunningly convinced one third of the angels to turn against God in Heaven. It was even more evident when he deceived and convinced our 1st mother Eve that disobedience to God would be more profitable to her, then obedience to God.

The powerful phrase, “No weapon formed against you, shall prosper,” has been given as the answer key for mankind to walk in victory physically, spiritually and mentally. This powerful phrase is designed to be the cushioned pillow of peace, to sleep at night. It is the mental medicine of the mind, body and soul. The enemy has unfortunately tried to convince mankind that there is no power in speaking with authority God’s words for us, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” The tactic he used, was to have mankind feel as though such powerful words stated in the Bible, given by God, Our Creator, were made simply for those in the Bible at that time, and that any passage stated in God’s word, holds no weight of power now. This is another deception of the enemy, to try to handicap God’s children, so that we will feel that there is no hope. This is his way of being a bully to the mind. This is the very reason why God created this verse, so that we would have a weapon to fight back against the enemy, to protect our mind.

How many times in conversation, have you shared with someone something great in your life that you would like to accomplish? Or you are seeking words of healing and encouragement; and somewhere in the conversation, the enemy has used that person to tell you that your desired plans will not work, or your healing may not come. Recognize that this is the spirit of the enemy using that individual, without them even knowing it. God has promised in His word, that He has already conquered the world, and all that we need to be victorious, through His blood. So all things are attainable in Him. Wisdom, knowledge, healing, our desires, whatever we seek to allow us to progress forward, has already been conquered through Him. So words only have power, when our Father puts the power behind it! This is great comfort for all!

Camille: Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

Mia: Yes, many of the readers of “Stop the Gossiping” share that they never knew how deeply gossip affects others, and truly never gave thought to how it affects so many in the church, youth in schools and the workplace. Other readers shared that they never gave thought to where gossip stemmed from…the enemy, and that it is also on God’s concern table. God has used Stop the Gossiping to provide encouragement and enlightened to each reader, whether they are a victim or a partaker in gossip.

Camille: Complete this sentence I am blessed because….

Mia: I am so blessed because I have God and my son, and I am blessed because when the enemy set out to destroy, God spoke the powerful words of “No Weapon Formed against You Shall Prosper!”

Camille: Mia thank you for sharing with us today. Upon my arrival in New York City, I became a tenant of the Holmes’ brownstone. As residents of the brownstone we were given an unspoken bonus. Spontaneous, live gospel music, performed by the dynamic trio. Their soothing, soulful, gospel rhythms rang throughout the building summoning your undivided attention. Without seeing the trio actually rehearse, it was easy to assume that there were a throng of people singing in the upper room. But in reality, it was just three petite young ladies standing in a circle, with their heads thrown back, belting out rich, robust tunes that would instantly transport you from the chaotic vibe of Hamilton Heights to a place of peace, hope, and tranquility.
If you were unaware of who Jesus was, while residing in the Holmes’ Brownstone, by the end of their intense and spirit filled rehearsals; the residents had a pretty good understanding of who He was, and whom they were passionately singing about. Those precious moments on 141st street will never be forgotten. The Holmes Sisters have progressed from their brownstone rehearsals to become entrepreneurs, devoted mothers and wives, gospel recording artist, and have successfully maintained a cohesive singing group that has stood the test of time.

Camille Kleidysz: Where are you from?

Kimberly Holmes-James: We grew up in Bronx, NY; in 1995, before marriage, our family eventually migrated to Westtown NY. It’s a dot on the map. A little country rural town in upstate NY. That’s considered The Holmes Family headquarters. Currently we all live in different states due to marriage and career moves. Kim –Cheshire Connecticut, Taisha –AlbertLee, MN, Jan – Westtown,NY

Camille: Congratulations on your new album, who encouraged you to begin singing?

Taisha Holmes-Bulgin: Our mother encouraged us to sing at an early age. She had no prior musical background; just a good ear. We started singing in Sabbath School; then someone asked us to sing for a children’s day program at our church when we were about 4, 5, 7 we did not have a name. A friend of my mom at the last minute said call them “The Holmes Sisters” the name was born.

Kimberly Holmes-James: We started singing at our parents knees in worship. Growing up worship was a very important part of our lives. We were prepared for ministry and life at the feet of Jesus through our parents. During worship we studied the Bible, read spiritual books and sang spirit filled songs. We also, took turns reading and reciting scripture. All of these things developed our abilities to sing and speak in public.
Mother and Poppy loved to sing. They felt they could train us although they never considered themselves singers. However, they had a rich ear for good music. Mother really has a beautiful alto voice and Poppy has that soulful down home southern kind of voice. Mother would fine tune our notes. While Poppy would always passionately say, “Sing with more soul…!” LOL LOL LOL
Music was always a major part of our lives. We learned to play instruments. We had our own orchestra over the years. Playing the violin was Taisha, Janeth was on the flute, and I played the piano. Mother also had us join all the major choirs in our churches. We sang in choral groups and choirs in school. I, during elementary and high school formed our own female singing groups. Our singing ministry grew out of worship and a natural love for music. Mother was our first music coach, director, and manager. Our parents were always at our performances. They were and still are our biggest fans. LOL! We thank God for our dear parents. They love God with their heart, soul, and minds. Their aim in life was to train up their children in the way they should go. So when they are old they would not depart from it. A spiritual and musical legacy was important for them to prayerfully instill in our spirits.

Camille: When did you first realize that you wanted to become a singer?

Janeth Holmes -Alfred: I never wanted to be a singer. I am a very shy person and don’t like to be upfront. But, God entrusted this talent to me. And I am using it to reach lives for Him.

Camile: What inspires you to sing?

Jan: God is my inspiration! I am inspired by the testimonies of God`s power in my life. I am a survivor of 9-11-01. I worked in the WTC and was injured when tower 1 collapsed. Every time I reflect on that day and how an angel pulled me from under the debris, I praise God for his saving power. We sing a song called WE PRAISE HIM! And I know there`s no doubt we will never run out of good reasons to Praise Him!

Camille: Do you have a specific singing style?

Taisha: We have been known to sing Worship and Praise; Gospel and Christian Contemporary. On our new album our producer suggested we try Southern Gospel. Since there are no black sister groups singing Southern Gospel; he thought it would be a great niche. So we challenged ourselves and God Blessed. It was a great experience. .

Camille: What would you say is your interesting singing quirk that you must do before you perform?

Jan: I don`t necessarily have a quirk but, I do get very nervous every time I have to sing. My stomach turns in knots and my mouth gets very dry. So I am always drinking tons of water before singing.

Kimberly: I don’t know if it’s a quirk but the power of worship and prayer. Our worship----allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to us individually and collectively is an important part of our experience before ministering to others. Meditating on the songs we are prepared to sing.

Camille: What are you listening to now?

Taisha: Besides The Holmes Sisters, I have a confession; my sisters think I’m weird; but before the Album I got into Southern Gospel. I love it especially The Gaither Vocal Band, Talley Trio, The Martins, The Crabb Family. This is pretty much what I’m listening to now.

Kimberly: I love Vickie Yogi!! The Gaithers---The Kurt Karr singers Stephen Hurd The Crabb Family. I’m also listening to lots of instrumental Christian hymns on Pandora.com. Of course classical and kid friendly music with my son.

Camille: What musical artists have inspired you the most?

TAISHA: Oh… too many to name, Richard Smallwood, The Clark Sister, The Anointed Pace Sister’s, Tramaine Hawkins, Ce Ce Winans the list goes on and on.

Camille: If you had to choose, which musical artist would you consider a mentor?

Kimberly: It’s difficult to choose just one. My mentors would be Richard Smallwood, Sandi Patti, etc.

Camille: Throughout the years… Is there anything you find particularly challenging when trying to maintain a cohesive singing group?

Kimberly: Yes! Now that we are in 3 different states it’s a little more challenging to sing but not impossible! We are all married with children. It’s important to balance God, family, and ministry. We have purposed to live the Christ we sing about and keep this experience real in our homes first to our spouse and children. We want them to see Jesus in us first in every circumstance.

Camille: What are your favorite songs on the album?

Taisha: My favorite songs are “Surely this Man”, “Rest in Me”, “Redeemer”’ and “Lord you’re Holy”.

Kimberly: Lord You’re Holy-----Holy Ground---The Glorify Medley—Redeemer.

Camille: Did you write any of the songs?

Taisha: No we did not write any songs on our first album. We decided to do covers and try the originals for the second album.

Camille: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

Kimberly:There are many but we are very thankful for our current manager---Jeff Hunt. He not only believed in us but took it all the way to the end. We have a CD and we believe that everything happens in God’s timing.

Camille: What do you like to do when you're not singing?

Taisha: I love, love, love to cook, spend time with my family, travel

Kimberly: Read, spend time with family and friends, I love children….

Jan: I love to spend time with my husband Jude of 10 years and my son Justin 6yrs old and my daughter Julianna 5yrs old. . I also love to travel. But, even then I am always singing.

Camille: Tell us your latest news?

Jan: On August 28, 2008, I woke up with Bell`s Palsy (facial paralysis). I was not able to sing for 5 months. Praise God my face is almost fully recovered and I am able to sing again. Presently, we are reorganizing because Taisha has relocated to MN and Kimberly just had her first child.

Kimberly: On May 12, 2009 God blessed me with a very special gift. The Word of God says, “Children are a heritage from the Lord.” I had a son! His name is “John Augustus James.” What joy filled my heart when I heard his first cry that night, with my husband by my side in the hospital. The transition into motherhood has been wonderful, exhausting, and a glorious experience. When I look into my son’s eyes I am reminded that God is truly an awesome God! He is one bad brother! There is no one else like him that can create the miracle of life! Okay I can go on and on….. You can see that I am enjoying the arrival of my Prince John Augustus James!
Our brother in law who is also our manager just lost his father. The dynamic and great Pastor Mercene Alfred of Montreal Canada. He was a very powerful and spirit filled man. He prayed and healed the sick, uplifted broken hearts through the Word of God, and turned the hearts of people to God. He prayed over us many times in our lives. Bringing to fruition things in Jesus name. We are praying that God will sustain Jude and his immediate family. His father will be missed. Yet we know, as our Redeemer lives, if we stay faithful—we will all see Him again on that wonderful day. When Jesus will burst the clouds of heaven calling all who have been faithful to His will and way. Christ will again have victory over death! Praise the Lord!

Camille: What are your current projects or events?

Kimberly: Currently we are working to plan tours to promote the album throughout the USA, Canada, and the world. Go ye therefore and teach all nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Holmes Sisters are baptizing people through the word of God and music. We are ambassadors for Christ!!! Also preparing for our next project.

Camille: What does your family think of your singing?

Jan: My husband is and has always been very supportive of our Ministry. My children join right in singing during rehearsals. Sometimes, I will catch them imitating us around the house. My parents have supported us from the beginning. All of our husbands play an important role in our ministry. They take care of things like the calendar, finances, etc.

Kimberly: They are our biggest supporters.

Camille: Do you have any advice for other aspiring singers?

Jan: My advice for aspiring singers is to stay connected with God. He must lead and direct your ministry. It is very easy to go down the wrong path.

Camille: What was the hardest part when recording your album?

Kimberly: Singing although I was very sick at the time.

Camille: Who and what inspires you to sing?

Kimberly: God----The people….As long as we are touching a life, uplifting a soul, changing or mending a broken spirit.

Camille: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about your musical journey?

Taisha: Nope, I would not change a single thing. I use to sing knowing what I was singing about; and because I loved our harmonies and singing was fun; but with no real experiences and challenges. After great trials and tribulations; being healed from a crippling disease, Lyme disease; going through the loss of my son and too many fires to mention. I can truly say it has brought my singing ministry to a deeper experience not only knowing what I’m singing about; but who I am singing about and singing to. There is no way I could have survived all that I have been through in the last 10 years if The Lord was not my shepherd and I thank God for each trial because it brought me closer to Him and built my faith and trust in Him. When I minister to someone it is not based off what I heard, read or someone else’s experience; but what God brought me through. I can truly testify HE IS FAITHFUL!!

Camille: Kimberly… Would you describe your singing as a ministry and why?

Kimberly: God is the foundation of our singing ministry. He is the reason why we sing! As ambassadors we aim to reach others and draw them to Him. With that in mind it becomes a ministry. The word minister means to serve. To be in ministry means you are set apart as agents to a special vocation. The Bible talks about gifts and each person having their own. Well this is our gift and high calling. To serve God and remind or bring souls toward Him through music.

Camille: Is there a message in your songs that you want your audience to grasp?

Taisha: Yes, God loves us with an everlasting love. He sent His son to die in our stead because of His grace, mercy and unconditional love. There is nothing we can ever do to separate ourselves from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord! If we would accept Christ into our hearts and repent of our sins; He will forgive and cleanse us from unrighteousness.

Camille: Kimberly… For people who are just being introduced to the group, it is so important to understand that all of you have been a group since you were just little girls from the Bronx. And everyone knows as women we are constantly evolving as we become older. What is important to us in our youth becomes less important in our womanhood. And yet, here we are, years later, still talking about the Holmes Sisters. And you Kimberly, have been I guess…the designated leader of the group. I have always been impressed by the respect your sisters had for you as the oldest Holmes Sister. They respected your role as their leader, and listened and followed your Godly and musical counsel. And in return you respected your sisters as well as nurtured their individual personalities. Would you like to leave any words of encouragement for people who are hurting or going through a personal storm?

Kimberly: As little girls we sang a song ---We are on our way to heaven on the happy train express. The name on the engine is J-E-S-U-S. Jesus Loves Me This I know. We grew into the song God is so wonderful! More than Amazing! Cause I’ll Rise Again! Over the years it evolved into I Almost Let Go, Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus. When God is in the Building---The sin sick are healed. For every Mountain---You brought me over.
Do you see the pattern? We started off singing as innocent angels about Jesus love and how wonderful He is. As life took its course making twist and sharp turns it shaped and molded The Holmes Sisters personally. So naturally our ministry evolved to another plateau. Allowing us to relate, sing and speak to real life issues in people’s lives. We could actually sing with depth of our life experiences—….weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning! God will uphold you in His right hand! Fear not…….I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence my strength cometh from. My strength cometh from the Lord! Yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…. I will fear no evil! For thou God art with me….. I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise will continually be in my mouth. Lets praise the Lord for His mercy endureth forever!

Camille: I would like to thank the Holmes Sisters for sharing their compelling personal stories. Please stop by theholmessisters.com and listen to their featured songs on the website and purchase their CD. It is truly music for the soul.
Stay tuned for the next Nazareth Heights Café Chat….

Please join me in prayer to stop to the first genocide of the 21st century. The UN does not have an exact estimation on how many people have been slain; however, they estimate that 450,000 innocent lives have been slaughtered by the Arab Janjaweed- a Sudanese militia group, simply because their skin is dark. The Sudanese people are our brothers and sisters. Their bloodshed is no less than ours. Do not allow your prayer time to neglect our brothers and sisters in Darfur, Sudan.

The Birth of a Character

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/Sgna1aSsACI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/73if4C3nIGY/s320/j0433287.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5335035844722688034" />

I enjoy the process of creating a novel; fashioning the character’s personalities and giving them a voice until they finally spring to life is absolutely fascinating. However, even though I adore the architecture of a plot, my personal philosophy as a writer is to never force a storyline until the story finds you.

This is a concept that I used to hear often from one of my favorite English Literature professors. “A story should always find you; you should never force a story.” As an English major this statement puzzled me. I just wanted to write! I did not want to wait on a story to find me. At the time I was surrounded by eager, aspiring writers, and we had two things in common with one another. We wanted to write the next great American novel and all of us agreed that we would be completely satisfied if we could become bohemians and write all day, every day.

We devoured the various literary works of the great American and British authors. We spent hours dissecting every line and analyzing each paragraph. At times I’ll admit we over analyzed what the authors were trying to convey to their reading audience. Not only did we study the various works of the authors, but we studied the lives of the authors. We learned about their writing habits, and where the different authors wrote their literary masterpieces, and how they discovered their muse. Some authors were a part of literary groups and collaborated with other authors, some traveled the world and wrote spontaneously as they journeyed, and others worked in complete solitude. My writing peers and I used to exchange our ideal place to become inspired and write.

After becoming acquainted with all the amazing classic authors of American and British literature I was brimming with excitement, and eager to paint pictures with words. Characters often danced through my head, begging me to bring them to life but I had no plot. Now, I am aware to someone who is not a writer, learning that someone may have different characters running through their head, can be alarming. One would suggest that I may need to seek mental help. But I promise you, I’m not crazy. This is just simply the life of a fiction author. We are constantly plagued by different characters. However, I always remembered what my favorite English professor told me; wait for that magical moment of inspiration.

Waiting for inspiration is not always easy to do in a society that lives for instant gratification. Would my muse ever come? It finally did. On a night that I least expected it to come. On a night that was not very inspiring. I had just laid my fussy five month old son down to sleep. My baby boy had been crying all day long, and I just could not seem to comfort him. I was frustrated, tired, and I felt like I had been run over by a Mack truck. And I was envious of my husband. He was sleeping so peacefully through all the baby’s crying. I craved his serenity and wanted desperately to fall asleep, but he beat me to it.

Then suddenly she appeared. I saw a teenage girl looking out of her apartment window with tears streaming down her face. Her face was so vivid. And I was able to see the imagery of the city she lived in. Not only did I have a city to place my story, but I knew what happened to her that day when she was crying in the window. It was an extremely painful series of events the character had experienced. I had a plot! I finally had a plot and a character. I began writing in that very moment, hence the birth of Nazareth Heights and the Adventures of Adrianna Williamson.

The plot was so full and abundant that I knew it would have to become a series. Now, I had a set formula and characters for my literary career. My books were pretty much set in stone. What else could I possibly add to the series and the Faithful Four? The Faithful Four are not only diverse in culture, but their personalities are so contrasting, there is never a dull moment when creating new events for Nazareth Heights. I consider myself extremely blessed as an author.

And yet, another character introduced herself to me about a year ago while I was cleaning the kitchen. How is that for inspiration? I dismissed the character and the idea quickly. I already have four main characters, this was more than enough. I was completely satisfied. Another year passed and the same character was still nagging me to become a part of the Nazareth Heights series. I was unable to see her face, but her essence and voice were crystal clear. This character had grit. She was savvy and courageous, and I knew she was definitely worthy to become a part of the Nazareth Heights series.

So In chapter eight of Nazareth Heights Book 2, I gave birth to a new character, Sarah Silberstein. From the very first word that I gave the new character her personality sprung to life and completely took over. I always have such a blast when I’m writing Nazareth Heights, and adding Sarah Silberstein to the Nazareth Heights community has only enhanced an exciting and rich story.

When I am not writing, it feels as if a great part of me is missing but, when God brings the stories and vivid imagery to my imagination, I have to admit it is always worth the wait. My English professor was right. Kai suddenly finds her self in the face of adversity when she has a life altering encounter with a man whom she despises on the happiest day of her life. Kai Valentine's chance meeting with Roman, an infamous neighborhood gangster, forces her to implement the Biblical principal of “love thy neighbor” and challenges her faith and perception of the frail human condition. Will Kai Valentine’s life ever be the same after her unexpected encounter with Roman?

Excerpt From Spiritual Eyes Volume I

The air was thick and chilly with a bitter wind that slapped against Kai’s face. She scurried down the subway stairs, thankful to finally escape the cutting gust of winds.
The thick crowds of the underground disappeared, leaving the subway station distinctly desolate. An awkward silence clung to her in the depths of the chilly underground.
Kai could only hear the vibrant rhythm of her heeled boots beating against the cold pavement.
She finally spotted a lone commuter standing at the end of the platform, wearing a black beret and a smooth, velvet pea coat. Kai rushed to stand next to the chic passenger, but her efforts to join the woman were quickly intercepted when the Uptown train soared into the station, thrusting an icy breeze against her cheeks.
Kai slowly boarded the train and immediately felt uncomfortable. She was surrounded by vacant seat and longed to hear the comforting buzz of conversation.
Kai gently leaned her head against the window and began nodding in and out of sleep until she reached the 125th Street station. A cluster of people pushed their way through the subway doors. Kai began to feel at ease and relieved to see a small crowd of people board the train.
She slowly closed her eyes once again, when suddenly, a turbulent noise forced her sluggish eyelids to pop open. Kai immediately straightened her back and directed her gaze towards the jolting sound.
A tall and compelling man violently thrust his arm through the doors, forcing the subway doors to suddenly snatch open.
His dark leather coat draped freely over his statuesque frame, and a brown leather hat shaded his piercing eyes.
He broke the unspoken rule of the city and proceeded to make eye contact with Kai.
She immediately felt violated and strange. Kai quickly turned her head towards the window and stared intensely into the glass.
Without looking into his eyes, she continued to feel the man’s penetrating glare; his essence felt familiar as if she once knew him.
The train finally rolled into the 145th Street station. When Kai finally emerged from the underground, fierce winds greeted her once again, stinging her cheeks and ears.
She continued to walk along the slushy sidewalk until she reached the corner of Amsterdam Street.
Kai began to hear the sound of heavy footsteps following her, and she immediately began to pray.

“Dear God, please…please protect me…place Your hedge around me…You have always walked with me in this big city continue to walk with me now.”

“Miss!” The man shouted with a husky tone. Kai Valentine hastened her pace and continued to walk without turning around. Her walk suddenly turned into a slow jog.
“Miss…please…wait, I’m not going to hurt you!” The man’s sluggish steps became rapid, and she could clearly hear him running directly behind her. Kai’s heart began leaping within her chest; she struggled to breathe. As she continued running down the sidewalk, the icy air felt as if it were choking her with each step. The man wearing the leather coat and hat finally reached Kai.
“Excuse me, miss…I’m sorry…I’m not trying to hurt you… I promise…but don’t you know Roman?” Kai’s steps became frozen, and her heart continued to beat frantically. She felt excited to hear the mention of Roman’s name, yet scared to admit that she knew of Roman. This man was a stranger to Kai, and she knew that if she revealed anything about Roman to the wrong person, her carelessness could lead to severe consequences. Kai remained silent.
“He wants you to have this.” The cryptic man shoved a thin, sealed envelope in Kai’s hand and immediately slipped away into the darkness.

Introducing Nazareth Heights Book I The Adventures of Adrianna Williamson Available on Amazon JULY 2009

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 367px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_A4XuLDhMYNE/Si2T-uWl-_I/AAAAAAAAAIo/QBBioll1580/s400/new3%5B2%5D+trailer.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345091038562614258" />

Nazareth Heights is a series of inspirational novels for young adults, following the lives of four amazing teenagers from adolescence until their adulthood.

Adrianna Williamson, Lacey Santiago, Breeana Cruz, and Terrance Francis reside in Nazareth Heights ; a violent and challenging borough of the city.
